Pihtsusköngäs is ranked the most beautiful waterfall of Finland. It’s 17m tall free falling waterfall. To get this waterfall the distance from our starting point was around 35-40 km. So no roads for cars nearby. It was end of our second day when we reached Pihtsusköngäs. We were tired of hiking already 25 km at that day. So it was nice to get our backpacks off and take some shots. This waterfall was something that I waited the most from this trip. I can tell you that it’s so beautiful when you see it alive. Any picture on earth can’t tell you how wonderful and big it is. Of course you can not compare this to something like Niagara falls or waterfalls of Iceland, but for Finns this is huge.
When I started to shoot I wasn’t too excited about the sunny weather. Gladly it was evening so sun wasn’t that harsh. Actually I like the way sun ray hits the waterfall in this pic. I think it gives a nice contrast. Waterfalls are not the easiest objects to photograph. When you take long exposure shot like this, it’s hard to keep your lens dry because of the water that wind carries from waterfall.
